Air Travel Taken to New Heights

Commercial airline passengers wanting to reserve a window seat will be happy to discover those seats are now a thing of the past. Opulent air travel is reaching a new level of lunacy with seats on top of the plane. With the all new SkyDeck, created by Windspeed Technologies, passengers will have the ability to see a 360 degree view above the airplane for an additional cost.
This all new SkyDeck can be added to a private jet as well. The two seats are not mandatory. The buyer can add one to his or her jet with perfect ease. Windspeed Technologies boasts that their goal is "to create the next exciting experiential in-flight entertainment for VIP aircraft owners and the airline industry". The company also added that, "The SkyDeck can be installed on a wide variety of aircraft, ranging from wide-bodies to smaller executive jets... We wanted to come up with a product that would provide a higher level of entertainment to reduce the boredom of long flights."
Opulent air travel is reaching a new level of lunacy with seats on top of the plane simply through cost alone. Depending on the size of the aircraft, each SkyDeck will range anywhere from $8 million to $25 million to construct.
Yet as appealing as this new design is, Windspeed Technologies acknowledged some concerns regarding the installation of the SkyDeck. One of those concerns was about the aircraft's tail performance, as adding the deck would alter the aerodynamics slightly and increase the weight of the plane itself. This was resolved by retaining a teardrop design combined with the use of proper engineering plans and measurements. The SkyDeck would also have to be located in the back portion of the plane in order to keep the extra fuel consumption for the new addition to a minimum.
The other concern regarding the SkyDeck was the dome itself. Windspeed Technologies assured the materials used in the creation of the dome is as durable as the rest of the items used in the airplane's construction. The observation area was designed to withstand all potential load conditions. This includes strikes from bird impacts and flight loads. The SkyDeck will also come equipped with a UV coating to protect passengers from the sun's harmful rays. The remaining issue left to fully resolve is the condensation that builds along the canopy surface which could potentially cause fog to build. Yet Windspeed Technologies has already discovered a solution for this issue by adding an anti-condensation film along the canopy's surface.
This new advancement in technology has passengers everywhere believing opulent air travel is reaching a new level of lunacy with seats on top of the plane. Rather than spend money on anything else to improve the flight experience (like meals or abolishing fees for baggage), in commercial airlines a special elevator will be installed that will lift the seats to allow passengers access to the SkyDeck area. Passengers will enjoy the view from 30,000 to 35,000 ft into the air. However it is unlikely passengers will be able to take off from this deck.
The SkyDeck is already patented and pending a trademark.
